1946: Eddie Moylan - Trenton Tennis Star

This young man was a regular visitor to the Kuser Farm Tennis Club when Don Slabicki and I worked for Fritz and Edna Kuser in the 1940's. Eddie was the epitome of a role model. His quiet self confident manner impressed all who knew him. He was one of the few opponents who kept "Mr. Trenton Tennis," Fritz Kuser on the defensive. The last I heard of Eddie, he was the tennis coach (or is it tennis pro?) at Cornell University.

1947: REMEMBER GEORGE CASE SPORTING GOODS?

Yes, we "old timers" remember the sporting goods store that "Georgie" Case established after finishing a distinguished career with the American League Washington Senators. Like Willie Mays and Al Downing, George Case was a local baseball hero who made it in "the bigs," as we used to say.

1938 (Ca. 1938) Sportsmen from the Italian American Sportsmens' Club

So many familiar names! Carlo, there's a Benedetti in there, there's Salamandra, Rossi, Funari, Mancuso.....many others. Before the place changed to the Villa Ristorante, the caretakers of the old Italian American Sportsmen Club let me metal detect on the property. I discovered that skeet shooting was a very important part of the recreation on the open field. There were 12 gauge shell casings all over the place on the field a bit beyond Kuser Road.

1946:GEORGE CASE OPENS A SPORTING GOODS STORE

What an interesting article on the famous Washington Senator baseball star. George Case, like Willie Mays and Al Downing after him, were local baseball icons back in the 1930's and 40's. Here we get a good idea of the speedy George who was not only an incredible base stealer, but nearly equaled Jesse Owens Olympic speed in Nazi Germany in the 1930's

1946: SCHROTHS POST 93

Back in the 40's Post 93 was a very popular local baseball entity. They were usually at or near the top in championships. Unfortunately, the team was defeated in 1946.
