1934: St. Anthony Students honored for DAV flower sales

There will undoubtedly be a number of visitors who will recognize these 1930 era parishioners from St. Anthony's Grammar School on South Olden Avenue.

1938: St. Anthony Class of '38 Graduates

Here's the class of '38 at St. Anthony Trenton listing the graduates and also various awards. Many familiar names in the list of families who are still communicants.

1936: ST. ANTHONY BOYS' BASKETBALL TEAM CHAMPS

There's another Warwick in there! The Warwick boys were apparently all athletes. The Kalapis family had a neighborhood "corner store" diagonally across from the Glover house at the intersection of Beal Street and Sylvan Avenue. I would guess that Steve Kalapis in the photo is a member of that family.

1936: PERFECT RECORDS AT TRENTON'S ST. ANTHONY SCHOOL

Reading through the extensive list of names in the above article brings many of the friends I had when I was a parishioner at St. Anthony Parish those 10 or more years ago. Dietrich, Thomann, Belyung, Penardi, Betz, Liedtka, and many, many others..... and lo and behold, there's my sister in law, the late Dolores Britton Paul.

CAN ANYONE DATE THIS ST. ANTHONY GRAMMAR SCHOOL CLASS PHOTO?

I see familiar names in there, (Donlon, Liedtka, etc.) but I can only give it a "1930's" date. If any visitor has a senior citizen who was in St. Anthony Grammar school, please enlighten us.

1973: St. Anthony Grammar School PTA

Here are three of the folks I lovingly called the "kids in the nickel seats." We tried to raise money for the benefit of St. Anthony Grammar School by holding countless social events. I most recall those events as a founder of "men of action" during my stint as a St. Anthony PTA President.

Oh, how I recall those years when my three children attended St. Anthony Grammar School! The article above was a year or so before I and my wife Judy became President and Vice President of the PTA. "Tricky Trays," Chinese Auctions, St. Patrick's Day Parties, Fashion Shows, Candy Sales, and the notorious St. Anthony annual carnival with Monsignor Mike McCorristin's beat up old wooden stands. The memories linger! I could write a book.....in fact I may, some time in the future.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE LAST COLUMN (FAR RIGHT) OF STUDENT IDENTIFICATION IS TRUNCATED. THE ACTUAL PHOTO WAS FROM MY COLLECTION, AND JIM O'ROURKE FURNISHED THE PHOTOCOPIED LIST OF STUDENTS. My brother in law is in there, the late Walter Britton, my dear friend, the Late Jim O'Rourke, and numerous other graduates from St. Anthony's Grammar School.

Here's the other half of the very long rectangular photo of the class of 1941 from St. Anthony Grammar School. The young lady, second from the right in the first row, is my Sister-in-Law, Dolores Britton Paul. Next to her, far right first row is her friend Claire Newell Fasick.

St. Anthony Grammar School Class of 1938

One of the really great features of the Hamilton Township Public Library Local History project is finding articles which contain names of people whom I knew or know. As I perused the accompanying article, I found my Sister in Law, the late Sister Kathleen Britton, Tony Stirpe, a fellow parishioner at my former parish, neighbor Virginia Kuklinski, and numerous other families with whom I am familiar. I suspect that many viewers of "Tom Glover's Hamilton" also enjoy that same experience. I dare say that a number of viewers will know at least one, and probably more of the 8th grade graduating class of St. Anthony's Grammar School.
