JOHN L. KUSER'S "STRAWBERRY HILL"

This delightful map shows the Pennington-Hopewell- W. Trenton area of John L. Kuser's beautiful estate at the foot of Bald Pate Mountain. Thanks to old time family friend "Beb" Bill Peters for the map.

1946: TITUSVILLE GRANGE 163

Back when we were "rural!" How many changes I have seen in my 78 years in the Mercer County area! Hamilton Township was a farm studded rural community surrounded by the villages of Mercerville, Hamilton Square, Groveville, Yardville, Deutzville and Bromley. As time went on, developers purchased those old farms, built whole new communities and the vast open farmland I knew as a boy are long gone. Through all the years and even though some of the glass-encrusted buildings are occupying many acres, the Lambertville-Hopewell-Pennington area has managed to maintain that old fashioned rural bucolic ambiance that we all love so much.

1934: FACULTY AND GRADUATES OF THE TITUSVILE SCHOOL

One of the more popular posts on this blog since its inception in 2005 has been the class photos from various high schools and grammar schools. Here's the class of 1934 at the Titusville grammar school. How nice to see an era when boys wore ties and girls wore dresses!

1913: The Old Titusville Country School

Schoolhouses of old are of special interest to me. Today a red brick building is the home of Titusville students. Back before that brick school was built, earlier residents of the Titusville area attended the school shown in the illustration. Unfortunately, graphic reproduction was not too technically advanced, resulting in an offset photo which gives just a hint of what that old school looked like. The original was really washed out, but thanks to a touch up here, a "clone" stamp in the foliage here and there, and a few other graphic touchups, a fair representation of the building is presented.

1937: Titusville Grammar School Class of '37

Here they are, the class of 1937 at the little school in quaint village of Titusville. Back in the 1980's, I visited the Titusville school yard with my metal detector, seeking out any old coins and ephemera. Anybody in the photo you recognize?

1946: Titusville Baby Parade

Sorry about the quality of this photo. Normally the Trenton Times photographers turn out excellent quality photos. I tried my best to enhance this photo, but the angle at which the photographer shot the photo was not conducive to a good shot.
