1924: WHEN THE KKK CAME TO HAMILTON TOWNSHIP

Some years ago I wrote this interesting article recalling the day the Ku Klux Klan decided to lead a parade and picnic in and about Hamilton Township. There are hundreds of pages of Klan activity all over America in the 1920's. Indeed a number of very prominent citizens were members; many serving in a clandestine manner and not "outing" themselves in public.

1986: THE KKK COMES TO HAMILTON

Back in the first few decades of the 20th century, the KKK was a thriving organization. There were a number of members of Protestant clergy who were card carrying members of the organization. I wrote the article above detailing a visit to the then rural Hamilton Township area in the 1924, and the somewhat negative reaction which was expressed by local citizens.

WHEN THE KKK CAME TO HAMILTON

Back in the 20's and 30's, racism was rampant in the south. The Ku Klux Klan were regularly lighting their crosses on black residents front yards, and committing many horrible atrocities. There were also many sympathizers in the north; even a few in Hamilton. Here's an accout which I wrote back in the 1980's when a group of Klan members held a rally in Yardville.
