1914: THE "SEASHORE" 100 YEARS AGO

From the "WHIMSICAL" folder in the Hamilton Township Public Library, this remarkable article tells how to spend a week down the shore, or "seashore" as it was commonly known in earlier years. It is interesting to note that this article appeared 100 years ago; a mere 3 days shy of August 9, 2014!

2012: TIME OUT FOR A SMILE

My dear friend Harry Hall from Kuser School class of 1950 and Hamilton High class of 1954 sent me an email with a number of graphics from www.wackywits.com on the destiny which every human being must go through. We call it aging. The graphic is a very clever testament to those of us who are experiencing "old age." I have assigned this masterpiece to the "WHIMSICAL" folder in the Hamilton Library Local History Collection.

HI TOM....WHEN IT COMES TO AGING, I THINK I QUALIFY. THIS MONTH I WILL CELEBRATE MY 93RD BIRTHDAY AND I FEEL ALONE WHEN I RECALL MOST OF MY MANY FRIENDS AND TEAMMATES HAVE GONE TO MEET THEIR ANCESTORS. MAY GOD BLESS THEM AND MAY THEY ALL REST IN PEACE. I FEEL I DONE IT ALL, FROM CHAMBERS BURG, TO VILLA PARK, MORRISVILLE, MERCERVILLE AND HAMILTON SQUARE. FROM SURVIVING THE GREAT DEPRESSION, MAKING THE SCHROTHS BASEBALL TEAM IN 1936, CREATING THE HAMILTON BOWLING LANES IN 1955 , RETURNING TO THE POST OFFICE DOWN FLORIDA AND NOW ENJOYING A PENSION MAKES ME FEEL LIKE I DONE IT ALL. KEEP UP THE FINE WORK OR PLEASURE IN BRINGING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF OUR YOUTH. I WISH YOU BEST OF EVERYTHING.

I WISH YOU A HAPPY 93rd AND HOPE I WILL BE AROUND WHEN YOU CELEBRATE 94 and BEYOND! IF YOUR PHYSICAL CONDITION IS ANYWHERE NEAR YOUR MENTAL CAPACITY, YOU WILL BE HERE FOR MANY MORE BIRTHDAYS.Delete

1895: THE "KOMBI" CAMERA

Go ahead; use that newfangled "digital" camera. As for me, I think I'll stay with my high tech analog "KOMBI" camera. After all, can you take 25 pictures on one roll of film?.,f you can, will they be as large as my KOMBI which produces photographs that are an inch and a half in size?

2008: Of Course there is no "Glover Gazette."

There's a website where you can make your own newspaper, and I have taken the opportunity to announce the fact that this website is approaching 90,000 "hits." Quite impressive, and proof positive that history and nostalgic memories go hand in hand.

Dawn in 1870 Trenton

I found this article to be a fascinating look at the city of Trenton as it was in 1870. It is filed in the "Whimsical" folder in the local history collection.
