My co-worker Bill Kuestner and I gave more than 40 years of our lives to this company, with the verbal promise that we would one day retire in comfort. Unfortunately, I didn't heed my many friends, who admonished me to never put your career in the hands of a "mom and pop" company. I did. When the principles retired, the business was turned over to family and within a year or so, we descended into Chapter 11. The bittersweet memories remain.
