1915: MERCERVILLE ROAD HOUSE

IN AN EARLIER POST, I SUBMITTED AN ARTICLE WHICH INCLUDED THE ABOVE VERY PRIMITIVE OFFSET PHOTO OF THE "MERCERVILLE ROADHOUSE," (TODAY'S BILL'S OLDE TAVERN), BEFORE OFFSET PHOTO REPRODUCTION WAS PERFECTED IN THE PUBLISHING INDUSTRY. AS I INDICATED IN THE EARLIER POST, THE PHOTO WAS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO ENHANCE. I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON IT AND HAVE IMPROVED ON IT SOMEWHAT. A BIT OF TOUCHING UP HERE AND THERE, REDUCING THE SIZE WHICH AUTOMATICALLY ENHANCES THE DETAIL, AND JUST PATCHING UP SOME FLAGRANT IMPERFECTIONS. NOTE THE DORMER ON THE FRONT OF THE BUILDING. THERE IS ANOTHER PHOTO OF THE OLD BUILDING TAKEN DURING A DIFFERENT ERA. IN THAT OTHER PHOTO THERE IS NO DORMER, AND THE PORCH ALONG THE FRONT EXTENDS AROUND TO THE SIDE SIDE OF BUILDING. THIS OLD BUILDING IS A HAMILTON HISTORIC TREASURE, DATING BACK TO THE YEARS WHEN SANDTOWN WAS A LOG CABIN COMMUNITY.
