AS I READ THIS FASCINATING (AND HEARTWARMING) ARTICLE, I WONDERED HOW THE TOWN FATHERS WERE ABLE TO DODGE THE WRATH OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL NIT-PICKERS OF THAT ERA. AFTER ALL, THESE TROUBLE MAKING "GAY YOUNG MEN" WERE EXERCISING THEIR RIGHT OF FREE SPEECH AND THEIR RIGHT OF ASSEMBLY. WHO SAID THE GOOD OLD DAYS WEREN'T THE GOOD OLD DAYS?
