BACK IN THE 1980'S WHEN I WAS WRITING FOR THE LATE, GREAT "MERCER MESSENGER" AND "EWING MESSENGER," I WROTE A COLUMN RECOUNTING THE HISTORY OF THAT WONDERFUL AREA OF TRENTON KNOWN AS "VILLA PARK." THAT COLUMN SPURRED THE CIVIC ASSOCIATION TO INVITE JUDY AND ME TO THEIR 1987 NEIGHBORHOOD REUNION. IMAGINE OUR SURPRISE WHEN WE FOUND OURSELVES MINGLING WITH OUR DEAR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS BOB AND ROSE MARIE MCLAUGHLIN, FRANK AND FRAN CHRISTIANI, DON AND BERNICE CUNNINGHAM, FRANK DONLON, AND OTHER ATTENDEES WHOSE NAMES ESCAPE ME. THESE FOLKS GREW UP IN A WONDERFUL NEIGHBORHOOD AND IT WAS A TRULY MOVING EXPERIENCE TO SEE HOW CLOSE KNIT A COMMUNITY THEY HAD.
