Under what circumstances were all of these Maxwell photos taken? Were they to be published or being taken for a matter of record? It certainly seems odd, but wonderful, that someone would have been taking such top quality photos in the still-early days of cameras for no particular reason. -

HI JOSS: The R.C. Maxwell Company had photos taken of the signs they installed and kept them for reference. Fortunately, they were saved for posterity when the company went out of business.
