2005 - 2011: THIS IS MY FRIEND, THE LATE "HAPPY" GLOVER

Only those of us who are animal lovers know the joy of having a dog or cat as a pet. They give you unconditional love. Above is a photo of "Happy;"truly "man's best friend." I have had a pet dog all my life from "Sniffy," a little Fox Terrier when I was a young lad of 6 or 7. Someone stole him and I spent days walking the neighborhood calling him. Happy was a replacement for "Shadow," also a Husky, who lived to be 13 years old. Happy developed diabetes and I tried to stabilize her sugar level, but it was a lost cause. So here I am in the year 2012 and I won't have another dog. Losing them is like losing a child. I hope to be a candidate for heaven. If I am, I know I will once again unite with NELLIE, BLACKIE, SNIFFY,MACK, QUEENIE, WHISKEY, HUNDT, SNOOPY, SHADOW, AND HAPPY. There is most certainly a "Doggy Heaven;" the Lord made them as "man's best friend." They certainly were mine!

So sorry for your loss Tom! I am sure Happy had a good life with a best friend that loved and cared for him. I know that pain of losing one and it's really rough. I just wrote a blog about dogs today, but it was sort of on the lighter side. Maybe it will bring a smile - especially since you had a dog as a child - you might relate.

IN THE 90'S WE ADOPTED A GOLDEN RETRIEVER NAMED MAX. AFTER HE PASSED AWAY, WE GOT ANOTHER GOLDEN RETRIEVER, A FEMALE NAMED TIA. SHE IS NOW EIGHT YEARS OLD AND IS VERY MUCH A PART OF THE FAMILY. AND IN SPITE OF THE ALERGIES AND SHEDDING, MY SON AND I PUT UP WITH HER VERY DEARLY.

Tom: Sorry for your loss, know the feeling, I still see our Luee on his rug or begging for a piece of lunch meat. There is a heaven for the all.

You may surprise yourself and find yourself with an unexpected guest. Being a "manly" sort and on the list for a "retired" military dog, I was asked to doggie sit a Pomeranian for a week or so. He is now rescued and redeemed. No more silly sweaters or sweet perfumes for him. We are indeed like "The Odd Couple" and he now allowed to be a manly dog. Never say never Tom. My "guest" has had the best spot on the couch for almost two years now. I think somehow they "pick" us more than we pick them. We all know where dogs go, but cats? Hmmmmmm, I can think of one that is making a fine companion for Lucifer.

Tom: I'm so sorry for your loss. We have had many dogs too and I know what you are going through. Our Welsh Terrier, Max, developed diabetes and it is next to impossible for you to monitor and control. We have our second Jack Russell Terrier and like our beloved Abby who went to the "big kennel in the sky'' at age 16, Maggie is constantly on the go, high-strung and stubborn but we love her with all our collective hearts. She is the boss and what she says goes. Again, I'm so sorry, Tom.

Tom -
Sorry for the loss of your dog - we had one dog - McBarker_ named for Mr. Magoo's dog in the cartoon. We got it for "the boys" and they took really good care of him. He got an incurable illnes, and he had to let him go to the big kennel. A very sad day. He was a Barker!

Tom, So sorry for your loss of a great Husky! I noted we have a lot in common with dogs. The first I remember was Pixie - a toy fox terrier. I've also had 2 huskies - such wonderful dogs!! My list of names Pixie, Blacky, Dutchess (got her from Bill Ford - Electrician, Ham, Former Mayor of Jobestown), Artic (first Husky - lost at 14 yrs old), Buster Bear (first St Bernard - lost at 7), Austin (Husky and still with us at 12) & Molly Bear (St Bernard - currently 31/2). Love my dogs and if you are interested in another Husky we got Austin from Mawpaw Husky rescue, great folks and they are on the web. Take care and talk to you sometime soon. Steve Jr
