1935: RKO (RADIO-KIETH'S-ORPHEUM) CAPITOL

What a superb photo! As I indicated in an earlier post it was here that some 14 or 15 years later, I had my first date with my dear wife, the late Judy Britton,. Check out the detail! This photo is a zoomed and and zeroed in extract from the original.

  1. I think Capitol theater had an organ which played between double features. It swung out from the left side of the wall as I recall. It is interesting to see the trolley tracks still in place and the clothing of the women crossing the street. It's a great photo made better by your work.

Hi Tom, I believe the organ you are thinking of, was at the Lincoln Theater on N. Warren, St. The organist was Bolton Holmes. The name looks OK to me, but I could be off on the spelling. The organ was huge and the sound filled the theater.

  3. Tom - At one time, after the theater was closed, wasn't that organ placed in the War Memorial Building?
