2014: MY FINAL 2014 SUNDAY OUTDOOR SING ALONG

As that old Thanksgiving songs says, "ere the winter storms begin." October has proven to be a lovely month with crisp fall days and low humidity. According to the weather prognosticators, tomorrow will be another lovely fall day with an afternoon temperature a breezy 61 degrees. I hope to see a number of our more hearty outdoor music lovers on the beautiful lawn at the library tomorrow at 3 P.M! Free and open to ALL who are within traveling distance of the Hamilton Library!

1951 - 2014: THE MEMORIES JUST KEEP ON COMIN'

 ******************************************************
Over the many years, I have written many columns relating to the excellent education I received courtesy of the Hamilton Township public school system. They were the years that shaped my future and gave me the confidence that I was proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and singing. Whenever I can, I share these gifts with my friends and neighbors; most of whom can tender the same tribute to their education.  One of the greatest influences on my dear wife Judy and me, is the lady we had during our years at Hamilton High School. Louise Baird (we called her "Ouise" prounounced "Wheez,) was not only an incredibly talented vocal music teacher. Through her incredible collection of scrapbooks which she left to Judy and me, she taught us many of the secrets of philosophy and the keys to a happy life.
I put the graphic above together which focuses around page one of the three pages of secrets of a successful marriage and life that she wrote in Judy's yearbook. I treasure those years, and as I look at the two photos of Judy and me as we move into our 82nd year, I have come to the realization that life is so very short. Yes, even 81 years later! As our Hamilton Vice Principal Jim (Jim Crow) Coursen would say to us on many occasions, "Live as though this were the last day of your life.")

1916 AND 1927

I am currently digitizing many vintage articles and photos relating to "Hamilton's Finest," better known as "the men in blue." Hamilton Township was a sprawling community back in the latter part of the 19th and into the 20th century. Our early law officers were known as "Constables." Frawley and Ceaser, were two that come to mind. The article on the left details the annual report of then Chief Henry Ceaser. who reported a total of just over 1,000 reports ranging from criminal offenses to dog violations. What a difference a century makes! On the right is the hand written document that comprises the forming of a real, genuine Hamilton Township Police force. My "POLICE-HAMILTON" digital database is constantly being added to and has already become a valued resource for present, and as time goes by for future generations.

1968: HAMILTON'S MUNICIPAL PARK

Who knew? I did! What today is known far and wide as Hamilton's beautiful Veterans Park was founded way back in 1968 during the administration of my dear friend, the late Maurice "Maury" Perilli. Over the years we have been blessed to have town leaders who have succeeded in saving our precious farms and forests from the real estate developers.

1935: St. Mathias P.E. Church Rectory

1935: St. Mathias P.E. Church Rectory

The photo above is self explanatory. St. Matthias is still located on Park Avenue in Hamilton. I understand that St. Matthias is going to merge with St.James P.E. Church.

2014: TONIGHT'S MEETING OF THE HAMILTON HISTORICAL SOCIETY

We are really encouraged by the "uptick" in attendance at our first Monday of the month meetings of the Hamilton Township Historical Society. Our realization that bland, uninteresting and non local programs had resulted in fewer and fewer citizens joining or attending our meetings. Above is a dual graphic which shows the subject of tonight's nostalgia centered meeting and below, the announcement of the very successful Chambersburg on screen program which I dedicated to my dear friend, the late Maurice "Maury" Perilli.

1943: THOSE WONDERFUL MOVIE SERIALS!

I am told that more and more senior citizens over the age of 60 or 65 are getting into computing. A few years back it was common knowledge that many if not most senior citizens didn't want to get involved with this incredible technology. This post and others to come are presented especially for the aforementioned over 60 fellow members of "wrinkle city." Enjoy and remember!

2014: I HAVE STARTED A NEW TRENTON FACEBOOK PAGE

I have started a new Facebook page entitled "TRENTON NJ MEMORY LANE." The pages will be dedicated to historic and interesting photos and articles relating to the capitol city. Check it out. Unfortunately Facebook graphic size restrictions will not allow for reading large graphics containing text. These will be posted as they have been for 18 or so years on my www.glover 320.blogspot.com which has a current number of hits over 800,000.
