1946: "LEST WE FORGET:" VILLA PARK REMEMBERS

It took a little longer than I usually do to put together this graphic, but my admiration and respect for our men in women in uniform serving our country is a small sacrifice. Here we see that those citizens of one of Trenton's lovely neighborhoods also had respect and admiration for their native residents who served in World War II.

  1. HI TOM...ONCE AGAIN, VILLA PARK GETS THE LIMELIGHT. WE LIVED ON BERT AVENUE FOR QUITE SOME TIME AND IN 1936, WHEN I PLAYED WITH THE SCHROTHS, I RECALL THE MANY PROMINENT PEOPLE. THERE WERE THE POLICE CHIEF OF TRENTON, MR. O'ROURK, COMMISSIONER OF MOTOR VEHICLES, MR DEARDEN,AND MANY OTHERS CONNECTED TO ST. FRANCIS HOSPITAL AND VARIOUS SCHOOLS. MY FRIEND LARRY LAURENTI ENDED UP OWNING A FEW SHOP-RITE SUPER MARKETS, CHARLIE MARTIETTE GOT TO OWN HIALEAH POOL AND BOWLING LANES , THE DeGEORGES BOUGHT THE ELDORADA BAR AND GRILL AND OF COURSE MY BROTHER LOU AND I BUILT THE HAMILTON BOWLING LANES ON ROUTE 33 IN 1954. MY FATHER LOST OUR HOUSE THROUGH FORECLOSURE DURING THE DEPRESSION AND WE MOVED TO FRANKLIN STREET. IT'S BEEN QUITE A TIME UP TO NOW AND I'M READY TO CALL IT A DAY. BEST WISHES TO ALL.
