1938: THE CHERRY FAMILY'S 1937 HUDSON TERRAPLANE

The recent post advertising the 1937 Hudson Terraplane brought this incredibly clear photo from my amateur radio buddy and antique auto enthusiast, Bob Cherry. Bob scanned this exquisite photo at 200 dots per inch. I have reduced it to 72 for this web post, but the original remains in the "AUTOMOBILIA" folder in the Hamilton Library Local History Collection. The original 200 dots per inch version is so clear, one can bring the grille of that beautiful old Hudson up so close that one can almost see behind the grille! Many thanks Bob....this is an exquisite photo and a worthy addition to local auto history.

BOB WROTE:

Seeing that ad in your BLOG for the 1937 Hudson Terraplane stirred some memories. The first car that I remember from my childhood was a 1937 Hudson Terraplane. My father bought it new in 1937 the same year that he and my mother were married, and it provided transportation for us until after the war even though parts were hard to get. I’m attaching a photo for you of my mother with the Hudson. Whenever I go to car shows, and I go to quite a few of them, and see one of these Hudsons, old memories come flooding back.
