1933: SOUTH BROAD STREET - PALACE THEATOR AND VAN SCIVER

I only went to the Palace theater once during my early years. I do recall that on the day I went there, a little novelty store was nearly next door with all kinds of kid stuff. Exploding cigars, that little thing you put in your hand and when you reached out your hand to handshake your buddy, a spring actuated a little gizmo on your buddy's hand. Ahh the joys of childhood! By the way, the telephone pole is obscuring the view of the PALACE sign.

  1. Tom, wondering why you have blocked me from your facebook? Could not respond via e-mail as I no longer have one after getting hacked twice.
    Thanks.

  2. Certainly not, Ed. You have been one of my old Trenton stalwarts! Please check it out and see if you can find a problem. I only block foul language or controversial comments. There are 32 whom I have blocked and you aren't one of them.

  3. Tom: The Palace was our neighborhood movie house. Particularly since it had a pedestrian alley way be Broad and Cooper Sts. where the fire doors opened too. We kids took avantage of chipping in for one kid to pay, and when he heard our secret knock, would open the fire door for the other 5 or 6 to rush in. If the usher were nearby, we just had to be patient. OOOOOOH if only we had cell phones back in the 30's and 40's!! LOL

  5. No, hot a thing. I was trying to check into the Tom Glover page not the Hamilton Scrap Book.

Could you check the guest requests and let me know if my name shows.

    Ed Millerick ... thanks Tom

  6. I was going to do just that, Ed, but for the life of me I can't find the menu that has the blocked names. I am told to go to the "upper right" and click on a small, down-pointing triangle, but there is none. I's still looking.
