HI TOM...IN 1928 I WAS NINE YEARS OLD AND RECALL LIVING ON BERT AVENUE IN VILLA PARK. WETZEL FIELD WAS RIGHT DOWN THE STREET AND THAT'S WHERE I SPENT MOST OF MY TIME. I WOULD SHAG BALLS WHILE TGHE PLAYERS HAD BATTTING PRACTICE. I LEARNED TO FIELD THE GROUNDERS WHICH I WOULD LATTER DO WHILE PLAYING SHORT STOP. DID YOU NOTICE HOW WELL DRESSED THE PEOPLE DOWN TOWN WERE. THE MEN WITH TIES AND THE WOMEN WITH LONG DRESSES; WHAT A DIFFERENCE FROM TODAY. BEST REGARDS.
