This is a fascinating photo. The camera man is standing on Centre Stree where the cobblestones are seen in the photo. The Volk Tire sign is on Greenwood Avenue and the car in the foreground is driving down South Broad Street. The Gulf station is now a vacant lot.

ReplyDeleteThis shot is so familiar to me.
It was five (5) years after it was taken, that Joe Chorlton and I reposessed a television set from the 2nd door way of the row of frame houses behind the gas station. I still remember the families name. Joe Chorlton who went on to become the Owner of the famous Cybis Porcelain, was scared out of his wits. I was breaking him in as a bill collector. We worked for The Trenton Banking Co.
As we carried out the TV,the husband came home from nearby Amereican Steel and Wire. He swore he was paid up, finally his wife admitted she gambled the money.
He wanted to kill her!
So much for today's reality shows, somthing we did 60 years ago.
BTW Rayfromvillapark, Joe's middle name was "Hudson" he was the nephew of the founder of the "Hudson Car Company"
Regards all
Happy Memorial Day.
