Joe Leist, Friends of the Hamilton Township Public Library
Friends of the library monthly book sale
The year 2013 marks the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Hamilton Township Public Library which began way back in 1923 when local parent teacher groups from all over Hamilton Township called for organizing a library to serve the citizens of then rural Hamilton. To say that the very genesis of the library was austere would be a vast understatement. Local neighborhoods served as libraries from Mercerville to Groveville and Crosswicks, from Broad Street Park to Yardville, from Homedell to Hamilton Avenue and all points in between. Many private homes hosted book shelves filled with books for area residents. The above graphics are from the past 10 or 12 years, showing only a few of the things that are part of the beautiful and very popular Hamilton Township Public Library nestled in a beautiful woodland setting on Justice Samuel Alito Way in Hamilton.
Celebratory events are being planned for the coming months and will be announced in the near future; stay tuned!
