1887 TAYLOR OPERA HOUSE

During its heyday, the Taylor Opera House was THE entertainment venue for those interested in Vaudeville, theater, and other thespian endeavors. It was located on the site of  Trenton's Capitol Theater. Many nationally known performers appeared at the Taylor Opera House which was originally known as Taylor Hall.

  1. HI TOM...I COULD RECALL THE PALACE THEATRE ON SO. BROZD STREET FOR VAUDEVILLE, BUT YHE TAYLOR OPERA HOUSE WAS ONLY MENTIONED BY MUCH OLDER PEOPLE. DURING MY TIME THE STATE AND CAPITOL THEATRE WERE THE ONLY VAUDEVILLE THEATRES, THE LINCOLN THEATRE WITH ITS LARGE REVOLVING STAGE HAD VAUDEVILLE ON OCCASSIONS. I REMEMBER PAUL WHITEMAN AND HIS ORCHESTRA PERFORMED AT THE LINCOLN WHILE HE WAS IN HIS PRIME. THE VICTORY THEATRE ON SO. BROAD AND HUDSON HAD A SMALL PORTABLE STAGE THAT I RECALL WHEN I WAS A YOUNG KID. BEST REGARDS AND MERRY XMAS
