1925: HABER'S, PRESTO, AND WEIDEL

"Haber's Presto and Weidel: sounds like a law firm, doesn't it? But in reality it is a very closeup view of 3 of the establishments that inhabited the first block of East State Street back in the roaring 20's. Unless my eyes deceive me, that auto on the right is carrying a Buick emblem on the radiator. I will depend on our automotive expert, Ray Paskiewicz to confirm my observation. This incredibly pristine photo has allowed me to zoom in on the three storefronts and gives you the opportunity to  journey back to the 20's and get the essence of the speakeasy era.

  1. This is the original location of "the New Presto" resturant, which was family owned by the Cokeanakis (Sp) family.
They relocated to the S/E corner of South Warren and Laffayatte Sts.
Where you would see Golden brown 25pound roasted turkeys, Fresh & Baked hams beconing you from their window.

It was like drooling in the window of a bakery.
