1951: N.J. TIURNPIKE OPENS BETWEEN BORDENTOWN AND NEWAKR

It was big news those 62 years ago when the highly publicized New Jersey Turnpike opened to the public. The new super highway would be a real advantage to commuters from the Central New Jersey area who were using state highways to get to northern New Jersey. The photo accompanying this article is from the Hamilton Library Local History files. It was posted on the Yardville-Allentown Road.
