1945: AUTO HISTORIAN, GOOD FRIEND, AND REGULAR VISITON RAY PASZLIEWICZ. JR.
Ray is a regular well spring of knowledge when it comes to local. and national automobile history. I remember ray back in the 1970's (?) when he had a beautiful 1941 (?) Chevy in beautiful condition. Ray, will you pleas fill me in on the question marks. As I pile on the years, many memories remain but many also fade.
Hi Tom, Your making me blush with your accolades. You published this photo some time ago on your site. You are right about the dates regarding the 1941 Chevrolet. It was during the 1970s, when I finished this car and displayed it at numerous automobile events in the area. In 1972, we took it by trailer out to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the National Meet of the Vintage Chevrolet Club. Out of 26 1941 Chevys in our class, we came in second to an original low mileage Coupe from California. My biggest thrill with this car, was taking 3 laps around the speedway, and parking in A.J. Foyt's pit. I sold the car, to finance a 1942 Chrysler Town & Country barrel back wagon. That's another sad story, because they are now worth over $200,000.00. I sold mine in the 1980s. As you know, I have had a love affair with automobiles for all of my life. I started collecting auto sales brochures, when I was 10 years old and still maintain my collection to this day, along with countless other car artifacts. I am especially interested in automobile history, as it relates to Trenton, N.J. Primarily, the retail dealerships that permeated the area, because I visited all of them as a kid. Trenton was a great town to grow up in, especially my neighborhoods of Franklin Park and Villa Park. One of these days, we should get together and expound on the subject of the automobile and Trenton. Best regards, Ray Paszkiewicz
