- I hadn't heard of this catastrophe in North Jersey. I found another post on the web: http://www.roxburynewjersey.com/hercules.htm Nothing remains but a single house. I wonder what ever became of the Nazi sabotage allegations?Close to where I now live, there was a huge explosion (1944) at Port Chicago of the Concord Naval Weapons Station. Thousands of tons of munitions went off, killing 320.

My Great Grandfather Alexander MacNicoll died in the Eddystone PA Munitions Plant Explosion April 10th 1917. Foul play suspected but unproven. To this day he has no death certificate as he died unidentified.
