1904 and 2010: HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY JULY 4TH WEEKEND

ho
The 1904 graphic gives an idea of the proliferation of firecrackers which were available to the public in the Trenton area during the early decades of the 20th century. As can be seen by the "Free Fireworks" ad, the articles adjacent to the ad tell of the many maiming mishaps that were commonplace back in those unregulated years.

Hi Tom....If I remember correctly, fireworks were illegal to sell in the Trenton area. Morrisville was a boom town during the 4th of July time. I recall going to the Trenton Fair Grounds to see the terrific display of sky and ground fireworks. I do recall sparklers were allowed. Regards.

Ralph, When I was around 10, my mom took a friend of mine and I up to CalwalAder Park and the fireworks were spectacular. It was around the end of the war and they seemed kinda scary. Coming home we had to walk a long way to get a bus because all the buses were packed. We lived on S. Olden near the corner of Hamilton then. A LONG way to go
