1946: SCHROTHS POST 93

Back in the 40's Post 93 was a very popular local baseball entity. They were usually at or near the top in championships. Unfortunately, the team was defeated in 1946.

  1. Hi Tom: Now you've shown a picture of the Schroths baseball team that is very dear to my heart. I was selected by manager Jake Miller to play with the team in 1936. It was a disappointing year after losing the local title to the Hamilton Legion. But sometime latter, in 1948,my brother Chuck Lucarella played on the 1948 team that went on to win the American Legion World Series in Indianapolis. My brother Lou and I attended that series along with many Trenton fans. Bus Saidt announced the play on the radio, he was my team mate on the 1936 team. I'm sure you must recall the parade the city put on, after they won in 1948. My brother latter was injured in a car accident and went on to become a doctor in the chambersburg area.

  3. Hi again Tom: I might add, a member of the above Schroths team, Carman Armenti, was mayor of Trenton for quite a few years. It was nice to know that two well known ball players, Art Holland and Carman were also contributors to thhe city during better days. Regards, Ralph

  4. Well said, Ralph. By the way..."Ralpy?" If you look at your keyboard closely, you will see that the "h" is very close to the "y." Let's call it another of my senior moments!
