Few indeed are many of my over 70 generation who do not recall the "gridiron" building which
was the home of Urken & Kohn's Department store up to the 1940's or early 50's when they sold out and the building was taken over by office supplier Palmer-Trout. I usually cut and past these pages, but the clarity on this particular page allowed for reducing the graphic from a huge 300 dots per inch down to around 120.
That store had the BEST elevator. I big wire cage with a door that closed vertically (IIRC). THe big brass switch panel took you either up or down. It was tough to forget the route. ;-)
