This interesting article tells of the Mercer Automobile company at the time it took over the Walter Automobile Company, and the earliest plans for the future of the Hamilton Township manufactured Mercer automobile. Within a year, the company would vault to the racing headlines with a race car that was truly a winner. Note that the place of manufacture is not Hamilton Township, but "outskirts of the city!" We Hamiltonians didn't get "no respect" whenever a manufacturer was mentioned in the press. With little or no exceptions, "made in Trenton" was the norm.
