1905 REV. RICHARDS THOMPSON, TRENTON'S FIRST M.E. CHURCH

"Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God..."
My mother in law and many other mothers in law were alie and well when Rev. Richards Thompson preached that sermon in Trenton's First Methodist Church on South Broad Street in Trenton. Whether Roman Catholic or Protestant, there would have been a resounding "AMEN!" Mom Britton used to tell us the Sunday was a day of rest....or as she put it, "no servile work." As the article indicates, that religious custom was largely snuffed out by those who were not necessarily in agreement with the fourth commandment.
