Thanks to Randy Riggs for this beautiful photo of his dad standing next to his Chevy panel truck. Ironically, I live in the 300 block of Atlantic Avenue, just two streets from the 300 block of Lynwood Avenue.

Here's another (photo) for you, my Pop in 1941 in front of the garage (still there, but fixed up) for 326 Lynwood Ave. with his Chevy work truck. He became very successful with his plumbing and heating business after he returned from serving in the U.S. Navy in Saipan in Nov. 1945. My grandfather, Frank Pratt Riggs, was also a plumber.
I was interested in seeing Randy's picture of his father and plumbing truck at 326 Lynwood Ave. I grew up in that house. During the war my father converted the roomy house into 2 apartments. We lived downstairs and tenants upstairs, including George and Irene Riggs. I also remember the plumbing truck. The house is the first one on Lynwood Ave. near Greenwood Ave.
ReplyDeleteWow, I just saw this comment. I have several photos of the house taken when my parents lived there (before I was born). They probably would've stayed longer had my father not been drafted (at age 35)in 1943. He signed up for the U.S. Navy instead of the U.S. Army and moved my mom into a smaller apartment on Jed Court for the duration.
