The new post of the First Baptist Church from Alan Wildblood is great. The great steeple was torn from the church by hurricane Diane (I think) in 1951. It crashed through the roof of the main sanctuary causing total demolition of the interior. A Rebuilding committee was named and Col. Herman L Mack was chairman. Two years later we had a grand re-dedication service.
Uncle Mack (as we called him) was married to Anna, sister of my Mother Mildred Hartman, Harry, Norman, Edgar and Marion. The Hartmans ran the produce store on No. Broad St. near the battle moment. Love your site hi to Mike Kuzama

Hi Tom:
ReplyDeleteI tried responding to the comment about my old Jr. #4 buddy Bill Barber, but got caught up in the wev of confusion about how to send it. Lets hope this works.
Warm and personal good wishes to Bill, and all my friends in NJ.
Since the Times has apparently cut back on publishing your outstanding column, I sought out this site. Your efforts on behalf of us old guys is much appreciated.
As noted before, It is one of the favorite parts of my day, reading your column. Thanks Tom.
I wanted to point out that my previous comment about "Uncle Vic Rice" is actually the Uncle of my wife, Joan Elenewski Kuzma.
My connections with Hamilton also include your former classmate Arlene Marren, and My uncle Steve Kuzma who worked for many years at Rowan School.
The name "Charlie Murphy" keeps popping up in my head as the name of the insurance agent who died in the cave in at McCorristan School during construction.
Regards, and best wishes
