1946: NEDICK'S BREAKFAST

TODAY I SPENT AN ALL TOO SHORT HOUR AT THE WBCB (1490 AM) MICROPHONES IN AN INTERVIEW PROGRAM WITH HOST BOB HARRIS, GEORGE O'GORMAN, AND MIKE ROSSI FROM ROSSI'S FAMOUS BAR AND RESTAURANT. MIKE RELATED THE FASCINATING HISTORY OF ROSSI'S, WHICH IS THE OLDEST LIQUOR LICENSE HOLDERS IN TRENTON. WE HAD A WONDERFUL HOUR FULL OF NOSTALGIC GEMS. ONE OF THE SUBJECTS WAS RECALLING THE RESTAURANTS AND OTHER EATING PLACES IN AND AROUND TRENTON. THE NAMES JUST KEPT ON COMING! I HAD FORGOTTEN QUITE A FEW OF THEM AND BOB HARRIS PROMISED TO SEND THE LONG LIST OF NAMES FOR ME TO POST ON THIS SITE.
HEY BOB AND GEORGE:
WE FORGOT NEDICK'S AT STATE AND BROAD. NOTICE THE "NO TIPPING" ADMONITION. TWO DONUTS AND A FROSTY GLASS OF NEDICK'S
ORANGE DRINK FOR A DIME! HOW WOULD ONE LEAVE A TIP FOR A BREAKFAST THAT SET ONE BACK ONE THIN DIME?
THE NEDICK'S GRAPHIC WAS A SMALL TRENTON TIMES ONE COLUMN WIDE BLACK AND WHITE AD. THROUGH THE MAGIC OF COMPUTER GRAPHICS, I ADDED A BIT OF "ZING" SO AS TO HELP OLD TIME TRENTON AREA RESIDENTS TO RECALL ONE OF TRENTON'S VERY POPULAR CENTER CITY EATERIES.
