HOW WELL I REMEMBER THOSE LATE AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS WITH TONS OF RAIN LEAVING OUR NEIGHBORHOOD WITH A LOT OF VERY DEEP PUDDLES. THE YOUNGSTERS IN THE PHOTO ARE HAVING A WONDERFUL TIME PLAYING IN THE VERY TEMPORARY NEIGHBORHOOD WATERING HOLE.
Sure remember those "instant pools" that came after big storms when the street drains got blocked. But that all stopped once the polio epidemic started. We kids were not allowed in the street water anymore. Not long after that we started going to Woodlawn Pool because we were considered old enough to just go with the gang.
Not an activity for girls?
ReplyDeleteNOT IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD. THE GIRLS DIDN'T LIKE THE IDEA OF ALL THE MUDDY WATER AND THE BUGS THEREIN.
