1934: THE JOYS OF CHILDHOOD

HOW WELL I REMEMBER THOSE LATE AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS WITH TONS OF RAIN LEAVING OUR NEIGHBORHOOD WITH A LOT OF VERY DEEP PUDDLES. THE YOUNGSTERS IN THE PHOTO ARE HAVING A WONDERFUL TIME PLAYING IN THE VERY TEMPORARY NEIGHBORHOOD WATERING HOLE.

  2. NOT IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD. THE GIRLS DIDN'T LIKE THE IDEA OF ALL THE MUDDY WATER AND THE BUGS THEREIN.

  3. Sure remember those "instant pools" that came after big storms when the street drains got blocked. But that all stopped once the polio epidemic started. We kids were not allowed in the street water anymore. Not long after that we started going to Woodlawn Pool because we were considered old enough to just go with the gang.

  5. TOUCHE' OMAD. NOW THAT YOU MENTION IT, I DO REMEMBER HELEN MILLER SPLASHING DOWN THE STREET.
