I'm a wilbur boy and I remember well the Trenton Times branch office on Garfield Ave. It later became a candy storeand the brach office moved behind the store in a garage.I had a paper route for many years as did my brother and most of the kids in the area. I'm also a friend of Paul Woolverton who also was a Wilbur boy,We both later become Trenton Police officers.

I was born and raised in what we called "Goosetown". Actually I lived on Kossuth St, which is no longer on the Map of Trenton. It ran parallel to Perry St. (Just beyond where the Trentonian is now located.

Am living in Florida for the past 8 years. Until then I first lived At Liberty and Grand,Stuyvesant Avenue,Abernathy Drive and then in Princeton. Yesterday my sister(also a resident of Forida e-mailed a copy or yours showing pictures of several Bas Mitvah candidates including one named Audrey Lavine. Hi Tom:

I hope you would remember my Brother Don & Me. We lived at the top of the hill on 2 Waverly Place. In fact, a lot of sports equipment from the Bromley Players were left in a wooden box in our shed. The shed door was always open. If any player needed a bat, ball, glove, basketball, etc., it was go along Beebee's Fence, up the hill, and get it from Bargholz's Shed. The interesting thing Tom, whatever was taken was always returned! Where has that trust gone?? Thanks for keeping Bromley alive - if only in our memories.

Also I would enjoy seeing pictures of the Waco Biplane and its hanger by Kuser Mansion..

What a wonderful site, I have lived in Groveville all of my life, I live in the same house I was born in, my parents, all of my grandparents lived in Groveville, and my Great Grandparents, George and Naomi Rollings lived next door. George operated the Groveville Water Company,the reservoir and concrete supports for the tower are sill behind my house, and Naomi ran the Company Store, for Morris and Company. I am the fourth generation of my family to belong to the Groveville Fire Company, My great grandfather, George Rollings was one of the organizers of the company and my Great Grandmother, Naomi, was one of the organizers of the Ladies Auxiliary and its first president. We all attended Groveville school, Mom to eighth grade and me to fourth. I have belonged to the Groveville Methodist Church all of my life, so if nothing else I have roots in the community. I sent you some old Groveville pictures, most I have scanned, some not, but I will get them to you as soon as I scan them. Thanks for such a wonderful site.

Enjoy your site. Definitely one to bookmark. Although no longer a Mercer Co. resident (lived on Revere Ave in Trenton 1950-1975)eleven of my siblings still in Mercer or neighboring counties. Great grandfather was Trenton policeman 1892 until he died in 1898. Mother was a Yard from Trenton.

I'm not a Trenton native, but I share your interest in the past and find old photos from all eras very interesting. I'm originally from Wilkes-Barre and we used to travel thru Trenton in the summers of the late 30's - early 40's for our yearly visits to Atlantic City. I've been living in this area since '61 so my interest in the area's past has increased greatly. Keep up the good work.

I mostly enjoyed your story abour Earl Williams.Because my madin name is williams and Earl is my second cousin.I also lived in dog town from 1935 till about 1947.

I lived right across from where the police station is now.My Grandfather owned a pig farm where Hanes had the garage.

I now live on Cypress Lane and would like to know if you came across any thing about the murder on cypress lane about in 1943.

Peopled talked about that for years and some would not go down Cypress Lane because of that.

I lettered in baseball and basketball at Hamilton High, playing with such guys as Freddie Barlow, Bill Binder Jimmy Donahue, etc.....class of '45....when the world was much more sane. When I read your weekly column I usually play the music of Glen Miller, Harry James, etc just for old times sake.

I learned of your site from the Times. I always read you column and find it very interested. Our family (Holzbaur, Hansen, MacTaggart)have been in the Trenton area since the early 1800's and the Holzbaurs were sponsored by the Roebling family to work as a carpenter. The family was part of the 1st Presb church of Trenton, buried in the Trenton cem. and their burials were moved to Greenwood Cem in 1899 when the old cem was cut and built upon. I am the family historian and have access to extensive family pictures of the Lakeside Park area from 1900's where the family built homes around the Lake. I bookmarked your site.
