1945: The Atomic Bomb is Dropped

One of the physical treasures we have in the Local History Collection is a growing number of "Headline" newspapers....that is, newspapers detailing historic events. Most of America's librarys threw their copies of newspaper files away and went to scratchy, line-filled microfilm. Fortunately, I foresaw the possibilities of retaining these paper treasures way back in the 1970's BC, (before computers) and the beautiful pristine articles being preserved in our collection stand in mute testimony to my notion that original copies are better than microforms.
