SEE THE COMMENT SENT BY "LAKESIDE GIRL," WHO IDENTIFIED ONE OF THE OCCUPANTS OF THIS HOME TO THE OWNER OF YARDVILLE'S MACK TOY WORKS. (NOW LOCATED ON RTE. 33 IN ROBBINSVILLE.) THANK YOU, "LAKESIDE GIRL!"
This, and the following post is from a glass negative is a splendid view of an are estate. The negative gives no information to identify the location. It is speculated that the street in the foreground is the un-paved South Broad Street, and further speculation suggests the location could be Willey, Rowan, or De Cou related.
Hi Tom, This house was the home of the owner of Mack Toy Works in Yardville. It was situated on the curve of Broad St where the 7-11 and Rite Aid Drugs now stands. In the background you can just see the long low factory building. After the house was gone, the factory building became a hardware and paint store. It later was later leveled in a fire.

I hate to disagree, but this was the home built by E. S. Willey c1897, though changed dramatically, is still standing. The side of the property sits on Lafayette St. I have the original picture, probably taken from your negative. It was passed down from E. S. Willey to his daughter Marion, my grandmother.
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU, PAM! I was hoping a relative would come forward with the identity. The glass slide from which this photo originated was in a collection of Broad Street Park glass slides, and I wondered about "Lakeside Girl's" placing it in Yardville Heights, when most of the slides were from the Colonial Cemetery, Conrad Abbott area. Thanks also to "Lakeside Girl" for commenting.
