I drew this pen and ink back in 1984. Nearly every boy who grew up in the 20's and 30's and early 40's had a pair of high tops with a black handled penknife snugly fitted into a pocket on the side. I can still remember the delightful aroma of a new pair of high tops. The freshly tanned leather provided a very clean and pleasant aroma. High tops worn with knickers were a common site.
