1935: S.P. Dunham

Do you remember those trips "uptown" to go shopping at one of the many "downtown" stores in Trenton? Goldberg's, Swern's, Nevius Voorhees, Yards, Eton Men's Shop, F.W. Donnelly, Hurley Tobin, and who knows how many others? Dunham's was a solid anchor in center city Trenton for many years. They started in business way back in the 19th century as Scudder & Dunham. Their demise in the 1970's was truly a sad occasion. Then along came the suburban malls, and one by one the old line department stores lost their clientele and one by one they closed up shop. One of the saddest events in the 20th century.
