Back in the mid 1850's when the perpetrator was caught, he was sentenced by a firm judge and jury. Particularly egregious offenses resulted in the sentence of twenty lashes at the town whipping post. Hmmm......not a bad idea....but no, that would be cruel and unusual punishment. I always wonder why they don't consider the cruel and unusual punishment which is experienced by the victims......Hmmm.... 'tis a puzzlement!
