Bromley: One of Hamilton's Older Neighborhoods

As a Bromley resident for more than 45 years, I am very interested in the genesis of this community.

A large part of the area we know as Bromley included the Fashion Stud Farm of Henry N. Smith. Smith died in 1901. After his death, his heirs formed a land company and Mr. Edmund C. Hill purchased acreage between Nottingham Way and Greenwood Avenue and called the development “Bromley Place.” The land across Greenwood Avenue was purchased by the H.J. Miller Realty Company, who developed “Bromley Manor.” Another section of Bromley, between Connecticut and Atlantic Avenues, on the north side of Greenwood Avenue, was the site of the old George Anderson Farm.
