My brother Ed joined the CCC's in the lat...Tom:<br />My brother Ed joined the CCC's in the late 1930's and was stationed in the Mountains of New York, buiding National parks. He and many of our neighbors spent several years in this service which was started by FDR along with the TVA, and PWA( Public Works administration commonly mistakenly called the WPA)<br />Roosevelt unlike today's politicians within 24 hours of his inauguration (in March not January) called together the brightest minds in America to put together this package of programs which brought our country out of the great depression. I WAS'NT QUITE OLD ENOUGH TO JOIN BUT I DID JOIN THE NYA, THE NATIONAL YOUTH ADMINISTRATION. WE WORKED 8 DAYS A MONTH AT THE 112 FIELD ARTILLERY. MOST PEOPLE IN THE BURG TOOK PART IN THAT PROGRAM.
