Than across the Monument park to E.L. Kerns for that big bottle of "Red" Cream soda with the ELK head pressed into the bottle.
The mention of my old Jr.#4 friend Carlo Bennedetti, conjurs up somme really fond memmories of the three brightest and nicest kids in school. The 3 were always together. Johmmy Licardo, Alger Chivoni, and Carlo. Without them, I never would have made it out of 9th grade. I always made sure I sat close by when taking a test.
Best wishes to Carlo, and all my friends in New Jersey.

Mike KuzmaMichaelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13296888329482355436noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19041693.post-28827438508887705462011-05-01T07:49:34.140-04:002011-05-01T07:49:34.140-04:00Hi Tom, belated Easter wishes!! Welcome!!...I'm only there a few hours a week now, so evidently I was not there when you came in. I'll make sure to tell Carlo Jr. to take good care of you! Yes, those Allfathers eggs are smaller, but people come from all over to make their Easter extra special!!
My Easter basket was not complete
without a large one in the center!!Carlo Benedettinoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19041693.post-21033523351718120962011-04-27T15:10:40.951-04:002011-04-27T15:10:40.951-04:00Gosh, from 1945 to 1950 we lived on South Olden ne...Gosh, from 1945 to 1950 we lived on South Olden near Hamilton right across from Hobart. If it were the old days I would run right up to that drug store and get one of those eggs. They were the best.omadnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19041693.post-13195553044164905512011-04-27T10:08:23.885-04:002011-04-27T10:08:23.885-04:00Joe, was the egg at Benedetti's or CVS? Spent last week in the hospital with a problem that is on the mend. But, what was amazing is my roomate was from No Jersey and one of nurses mentioned "those big firm coconut Easter eggs with the orange center" and my roomate had no idea what we were talking about. All that morning when the nurses and aides came in they were all talking about if they knew those eggs. Made for great conversation. We could not remember the name at first (I was kinda out of it on meds), but it suddenly came to me and we all talked about our experiences with them when we were young. I know we sold them in the front of our restaurant on Hamilton, but down the street was Shirley Anne's homemade candy and most folks went there. Your column brings back so many great, almost forgotten memories. Thanx again.omadnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19041693.post-50018340791515459122011-04-26T11:50:58.016-04:002011-04-26T11:50:58.016-04:00Thanks Tom, those were great.
