I remember hearing of the newes as we drove to Newardk Airport. Monsignor Crean was killed in the fire, and Fr. Grimes who was our Troop Chaplin escaped with injuries.
I mourned all the way to the west Coast.

Mike KuzmaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19041693.post-25133160073910683712012-09-26T09:01:46.025-04:002012-09-26T09:01:46.025-04:00I note the Lipman's Army & Navy sign but d...I note the Lipman's Army & Navy sign but don't remember going in there. That would have been across from the Ave Maria Shop, the perfect place to buy a gift for a nun. Sadly, the fire was consumed the church and rectory shortly after that photo was taken.

Ed MillerickAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19041693.post-69772481290079018332012-09-25T12:53:57.926-04:002012-09-25T12:53:57.926-04:00Tom:

Just about where the panel delivery truck is is or was the Gym, where Troop 35 of the BSA met, and of which I was a long time member. The school was actually on Chancery Lane behind the Church and WM Murphy's funeral home. The open school yard fronted on both Bank Street across from the Mayflower movers, and the school on Chancery Lane.

Mike KuzmaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
