2015: MUSIC: ONE OF GOD'S PRECIOUS GIFTS TO HUMANITY.

This article was saved for me by Jack Pyrah, my singing partner in our voluntary summer Kuser Park sing along programs. I do believe that mental stimulation can indeed keep the gray matter tuned up. Jack frequently comments on my ability to remember the lyrics to songs that are buried deep in yesteryear's music vault. I must admit that I also find it hard to believe that I can recall the lyrics to literally hundreds of songs that I remember from my youthful years. That is really the essence of our summer Kuser Park sing along program, "THE MUSIC WE GREW UP WITH," Jack gave me the article attached and as I read it, I realized that thus far, the Lord has allowed me to retain those lyrical music memories, In the attached photo, Ms. Nancy Briggs, one of my loyal concert followers, sings a duet with me as part of our sing-along custom.

I belong to a senior ukulele group. We perform at various nursing homes and on occasion at Alzeimer facilities where the patients are in secure facilities. We play music from the 30's 40,50's.regardless hoe advanced they sre when we play their faces lighten up when they recognize the songs. That inspires us.It verifies what we lerarned from ms Baird About music affecting the inner soul.As usual that lovely person was right.

Thanks for that interesting input, Lee. I have always believed that music nourishes the soul, or as we Catholics refer to it, the Holy Spirit. God gave me the gift of the INCREDIBLE ability to remember the lyrics to HUNDREDS of those old songs we grew up with. My partner in song, Jack Pyrah is amazed at how I can get up and sing without referring to a song sheet. Example: Gershwin's "Embraceable You;" "Deep Purple,"...countless others. I don's ask why, I just remember the words and I am grateful that I do. Great to hear from you as usual. Joe Battiste has been a God send for us as he assists us in counless ways. He and Sonnie never miss a concert.
