Here is another of those poorly defined offset photos that are so prevalent in early 1900's newspaper photos. However, one can get a general idea of the scene depticed. In the background can be seen Mr. Struble's Lakeside Hotel; a very popular location which was once located on South Broad Street at Lakeside Boulevard.

HI TOM...THAT NEWSPAPER EDITION CAME OUT JUST ABOUT THE TIME I WAS BORN. IT COST 2 CENTS A COPY AND REMAINED THE SAME PRICE FOR MANY YEARS. I RECALL RIBSON FIELD, WHERE TRENTON HIGH WAS BUILT LATER ON, FLYING PLANES THAT DROPED BABY RUTH CANDY BARS TO ALL THE KIDS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD AND ALSO WAS THE SITE OF THE CIRCUS EACH YEAR. THAT WHOLE AREA RESEMBLED A COUNTRY SIDE RIGHT IN THE HEART OF CHAMBERSBURG. HAPPY NEW YEAR.
Tom - Getting back to the picture that you generously posted, this is an excellent picture of the boathouse right on the beach at Lakeside. Several folks were wondering where the boathouse was located. Mrs. Struble's Lakeview Hotel later became Curtain's Inn. Happy New Year to you and thanks for all that you give us!
