SENIOR CITIZENS RECYCLED AND CONSERVED

Last week's "Sentimental Journey" column had a photo of little Tommy Glover, 3rd grade, Kuser School posing with Shirley Whitebread and our 3rd grade teacher, Ruth Margerum with a caption, "Thomas Glover and Shirley Whitebread my best 3rd grade singers." Little did little Tommy know that the "hand me down" pants he was wearing in that photo in 1942 were excellent examples of "recycling." Lord, did the Glover family become experts in the art of recycling and conservation. Indeed, the few very senior citizens over the age of 70 who read the above email that has been circulating around the net will heartily agree that we did all those things not so much out of conservation, but rather out of necessity. I still have memories of changing the diapers on my 3 children using that old fashioned necessity known as a "cloth diaper."
