1949: SOUTH BROAD AND CENTRE STREET

This photo was taken on the sidewalk in front of Sacred Heart Church on South Broad Street. How the neighborhood has changed! Samuel Light's store is shown on the corner of Greenwood Avenue when it went through to South Broad Street. The lay of the land is the same as far as accessing South Broad from Centre Street, however, the "Broad-Centre Diner" adds an interesting addition to the landscape as does the Esso station. That could very well be my "L-Liberty Street" bus on the far ft behind the truck in the photo. Our bus that traversed from the boondocks of Cedar Lane and Sylvan, down So. Olden to Liberty Street, then to South Broad and on to the Perry street terminal .
