Hi Tom:)
Thats Marsh Hobby Shop with the Coca Cola sign, that was where I got all model planes cars and stuff as a kid. This is going towards downtown not hamilton so the widows watch would not be in the pic as its 1 block before this part of broad:)

MANY THANKS, MACK FOR CORRECTING MY INCORRECT POST! I HAVE CORRECTED IT. WHEN I GOT YOUR EMAIL AND CHECKED THE GRAPHIC AND REMEMBERED MARSH'S, I SAID, "OF COURSE! I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN!"; I WENT BY THAT PLACE MANY TIMES. YOUR INPUT IS MUCH APPRECIATED AS IS YOUR CORRECTION OF MY ERROR.

Hi Tom:)
I put Diamonds on the wrong street once (it was on Kent of course). I was tired and just didnt look the post over. The readers responded by sarcastically putting other establishments on the wrong streets.. which made me laugh as that was a good example of the Burg type humor I grew up with. And if you are reading this JOE BATTISTA I think you are right in saying the bank on Chambers Street in Franklin Park was never an Old Borough Savings & Loan branch. Dang I thought it was. I had an account at Old Borough for years. I used to cash my checks at the bank on Chambers so I thought it was Old Borough..it was probubly Roma and cashed my checks anyway.
You do a magnificent job Tom and your blog is the inspiration for mine:))

I never have and never will claim to be perfect. I can try, but there will always be an occasional error made. No one is perfect.

Hi Tom, That Coca Cola sign has the legendary Sprite Boy with the Coke bottle. He was an elf like creature, used in their advertising campaigns form 1942, well into the late 1950s and early 60s.
I purchased many model car kits and promotional models from Marsh's Hobby Shop. It was a regular stop, whenever we were around the area. Right across from one of my favorite stops, Chico's Harley Davidson. rayfromvillapark

Ahh yes, Ray. I do remember those beautiful "Hogs" on display in front of Chico's.

Tom & Ray:

Do either of you remember the name of the owner of
"Chico's Harley Davidson"?
He was the first person I ever knew with the name "Monte"

Boy how this column helps to keep me from slipping into the Big "A"
Keep up the stimulation of the gray matter Tom, we oldster's need it.
