1886 AND 1819: CONVERY AND WALKER

The Convery and Walker retail store, along with Scudder and Dunham, was one of the pioneer Trenton furniture and dry goods store.The above graphic is a cut and paste from the "BUSINESSES AND FACTORIES-TRENTON" folder in the Hamilton Library Local History Collection. The 1886 ad is an example of a newspaper ad from the Trenton Times. Below is the notification, also from the Times, of the partnership breaking up. In subsequent years, the Convery furniture store on North Broad Street was one of the more popular furniture store in Downtown Trenton. The store was destroyed by rioters during the 1968 Trenton riots. Convery's demise was another nail in the coffin of what was once a viable Capitol city. mercantile establishments.

To follow up on the January 10, 1910 story, Thomas Walker was married to my great grand aunt. He died on May 4, 1911 from pneumonia.

To follow up on the January 10, 1910 story, Thomas Walker was married to my great grand aunt. He died on May 4, 1911 from pneumonia.
