THE "JOHN BULL"

HERE'S A GREAT OLD PHOTO OF THE FABLED "JOHN BULL" WHICH ONCE CROSSED CENTRAL JERSEY FROM BORDENTOWN, ON HER WAY ALONG THE CAMDEN AND AMBOY RAILROAD TRACKS THROUGH YARDVILLE AND ON UP NORTH. THE TRACKS CAN STILL BE SEEN ON KUSER ROAD, JUST BEFORE YOU REACH ROUTE 130.

Not only can the tracks bee seen at Kuser Rd. but can be followed up near Route 130 through Windsor into Hightstown. The tracks terminate in Windsor, but the foot print can still be traced on Rt. 33, north near North Main Street. Making a Right onto Williams Street, then Left onto Cranbury Sta. Road. you can follow those tracks back to the "main line" at Cranbury Station, where the tracks return. These tracks are still part of the original Camden & Amboy, now NSRR. If you look, you can see at least 1 bridge from the Pennsylvaia Bridge Co. outside Cranbury Station.
Hightstown was an important stop on the C&A, due to the farms and businesses in the area.
